Just Dave's Creations: 365 Days of Creatures

I took on the challenge of being creative at least once a day for the year 2012 using color. Looking back at all the pieces from 2012, I realized the ones that stood out and gave me the most joy, were the creatures (sad frog, the monsters,...) 2013 was the year of creatures. This year (2014) I'm continuing with the creatures but making them around the theme of children's stories/nursery rhymes. When all the characters are finished, I'll assemble them into a story picture.

Days 61 - 73 (1889 - 1900)

Had a great Sunday showing SO many of these blog creatures. To see them up and out was amazing! Some even got new homes! Now that things are slowing down a bit, I have some new paper cut creature ideas! Yay!

Days 32 - 60 (1860 - 1888)

Betcha thought I had stopped doing my daily creatures!? Well, here are all of last months creatures. After doing scratch art with a lot students during a school exchange, I decided to play around with scratch art paper. It was fun. It also freed up a bit of time to do other more pressing things on my to-do list.
One of the things I'm working on is my creatures are going to be on display at the Goddess of Glass from March 2nd - April 30th!! So cool!

Day 26 - 31 (1854 - 1859)

Here is another block of creations. I wasn't quite ready to quit, so I decided to move to other mediums. This batch is again pen and ink with a bonus or two. Currently I'm doing them on scratch art paper, adding a new one each day to one sheet

. When that sheet is done I'll post again! Getting crazy busy all of a sudden. So it's good I have scaled it down and am keeping it on the simple side!

Day 25 (1853)

I drew this self portrait with my first graders and every class that followed pointed at it and said "That's him (except that one eye thing)" Some asked if we could draw it for a project! LOL! Love it! They know me so well!
