Day 305: blue

Happy Halloween!
Fewer trick or treaters again this year.  Had a few boys show up without costumes, usually will give them a hard time, but after our loss this week, seeing how much fun they were having, it didn't seem like a big deal anymore.

Day 304: Blue

Today was a struggle as we find out more info into what happened to our student and his grandmother and cousin.  Just get's more and more sad.  Just pouring out extra mercy, patience and warmth to our students is the best I can do.
Really tired tonight so I did a simple pen and ink.

Day 303: Blue

Today's color matches the feelings and hearts of our school.  We lost a grandmother (who was raising him) and student to an act of senseless violence.  The ripple effect of one person's bad decision is so far reaching.  My heart goes out to this kid's friends, family, our students, staff and community, praying for peace and justice.
So weird, how one minute one can have a renewed vigor and energy and vision and in the course of an email, have it covered over in a blanket of sorrow and numbness.

It's also a challenge to be, as kids around you go through their stages of grief, trying to make sense of the senseless.  It is tiring.
Today's piece is dedicated to our student and his grandmom, not truly what I had envisioned doing but in a state of numbness, it's the best I could do.  Maybe tomorrow I'lll try to tackle what I had really intended on creating.

Day 302!!! Blue

Can't believe this is day 300! Unreal. It was actually 2 days ago! D'oh!!
Surreal day of up and down waves of feeings.  Thinking things need to change soon, of course has to start with me.
Found sad frog outline so I Halloweened him up a bit.

Nice Saturday though still in a cloud.
Had a lovely evening with friends Jean and Stephanie, watching a movie and catching up, followed by a visit with Jean's neighbor, Ray.

Day 300: blue

Friday.  Went on a chili 3+ fundraiser walk with the whole student body today.  Quite enjoyable!
Did a piece using leftover pieces from the previous ones.

Day 299: Blue

Snow.
It was pretty, but am so glad it didn't stick!  Not quite ready for it nor for shoveling!
Was in a bit of a fog today.  Could be exhaustion after an hour with the first graders.  This years group is like herding chirping cats on red bull.  It amazes me how a group can change year from year.
Did another paper cut tonight.

Day 298: Blue

Was going to hit the gym after school, but decided it'd be a great afternoon to hunker down up in the attic and work on some art pieces. It's such a great space to do that during the rain...and rain it did!  SO relaxing and reflective.  Redid one pen and ink and started another.  My intentions had been to paint, but just didn't happen.
I decided to do paper piece in it's true form.  Hoping to do another in a more detailed manner.

Tuesday's!  Woke up to thunder and rain this morning which was such a treat!  It's been so long!  Love it.

After a limited sleep filled night, day of teaching, mind numbingly disinteresting meeting and running at the gym for the first time in months, I was tired.  So I kept it simple.
Pen and ink!  Only a little over a month left of blue...  Time to bring it!

What a spiritually restfully day.  Got to spend some quality time in the sun, reading and slowly taking down the gardens.
Today's piece was an idea I started yesterday and finished today.

For fans of Adam I did another in that genre amongst others. 
For today's piece I used paint on an old painted  piece, very similar to past pieces.

Unique day off with rain that felt like Saturday.  Good intentions just misplanned entering into a sense of fog.

Sigh! Nothing sweeter than a day off.  Got some things done and hoping to do work in my art " studio" attic tomorrow.

Dug up 13 garbage bags full of canna bulbs!!!  This is from 1 plant planted 3 summers ago!  If they all survive the winter, I will have sooooooooooo many!  Can you say canna sale!
Was looking in past blog pictures and realized I've gotten away from paper pieces, so that 's what I did during the debate tonight.  Tomorrow conferences!  24 planned.../

Monday's.   Got home and raked and dug up Canna's.   6 containers of canna bulbs in my basement and I'm not even half way done!  Crazy!
This piece is inspired by one I did a week or so ago.  Similar in style and look.  I like it plus it's not pen and ink!.

Spent all morning volunteering at church. Then my cousin's Bob's wife Kim stopped by with so many awesome things I can use in my classroom! So sweet and thoughtful! + she's the first relation other than immediate family to be at my house.  Too awesome!

Got to spend some quality time mom and dad today...the highlight was seeing pictures of my mom as a child.  Also dinner at the lodge with them and my sister/bro-in-law.  Grilled cheese burger! Yum!  Sis is looking so good as a pregnant mommy!

Whew!  This week has been a week.  Finally off of monster antibiotics so that should help things a bit.
Tried to do a piece during the VP debates which is not conducive to creativity.  So this is what I came up with.

Note to self - Wear gloves when you clean up the raspberry bush area.
Today I played a bit with paint again, playing orange off the blues.

Happy Monday!  Still in fog.  Did clean up the raspberry bushes to day, without gloves - d'oh! Cool thing was one of the branches was creating raspberries!  Hoping they continue before it gets too cold! That would be nice, a taste of fresh raspberry in the fall.
Tonight, I just played with paint.  No clear direction, just brushed it, poured it, pounded it, dotted it etc...

There are days I wish I was an intellectual...but alas no.  But I'm grateful for my creative side.

Today saw the mean nature of kids and the sweetness all within an hour.
