Day 152 : Yellow

With all I have to do to get the art pieces back to the students, cleaning up the classroom for summer, transistion into Summer S.L.A.M. Director, I was afraid I'd forget to do yellow again. So I had some fun with my 1st graders, while they worked on finishing up their project for the year, I worked on this. Their input and suggestions were priceless! So with that I give you today's piece "Pink Lemonade?" Peace and fabulousness.

Day 151: Yellow

After a 10 hour day at work and errands ran I ended up in the gardens. When it was too dark to continue further, came in to get ready for the tomorrow and possibly read the rest of the night away when it dawned on me : I haven't done yellow!! So grabbed my yellow pens and well I guess this is where I'm at tonight. Peace and fabulousness.

Day 150 : Yellow

My last Tuesday of the school year!!! WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The sad part of the day was saying good bye to my 2 favorite classes. Due to Friday's all school picnic I won't have either group again this year. Granted I'll see the first graders next year, but the 6th grade class doesn't have me next year. The 365-ers did fans inspired by Gina Hampen, but since I was house/cat sitting I was limitted in my materials. So I did a paper and wood fan in yellow today!! Peace and fabulousness!

Day 149: Yellow

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks you to all those who serve this country so faithfully and bravely in the armed forces. Spent more time with my favorite felines. Was getting ready to leave and Tippy decided he needed some more uncle love. Love that cat. After cat sitting and meeting my brother's beagle Blu, the pet debate continues. Some reason I'm so tired this evening with tinges of blue. Watched as the bees in gardens hung out at the raspberries bushes. So I did a Pen and ink bee with paper element. Finally week with the students! (Until Summer S.L.A.M. start) Peace and fabulousness!

Day 148 : yellow

I'm house sitting for my friend and their diva cats Tippy and Ginger. So I don't want to mess up the place. I decided to keep it simple and do another pen and ink piece. The lighting isn't as strong as it is at my house which isn't all that bright either. The drawing is a little Gaga-ish too. Didn't get to the soul searching. 92 and sticky. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 147: Yellow

My parents, my sister and her husband, and my brother and his beagle Blu had a nice time at my house. First time we had all been together since my sister's wedding. Also got to hang with my 2 favorite felines Tippy and Ginger. Feeling a bit like a slug tonight but I did draw out a yellow piece that am now quite fond of. Tomorrow hope to do some soul searching which may end up expressing itself in pen and ink. Peace and fabulousness

Day 146 : Yellow

Grades are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I just have to get 100 or so pictures of student art work up on Artsonia. But that is a less stress activity. So glad it is Friday. I took some time to work on today's piece while my students worked on theirs. It good for them to see me in my artistic process, while I chat with them about theirs and their lives. It's so fun to do, especially with my Friday groups. So today's is mixed medium and it's entitled "Humpty Dumpty: Conspiracy theory #1". Have a great Memorial Day weekend! Shout out to all those who bravely serve! Peace and fabulousness!

Day 145: Yellow

Holy busyness Batman!!! I can see the finsih line ahead!! My student's 4th quarter grades will be done by tomorrow, my house ready for family visiting Saturday, 56 student art pieces have been selected for the Minnesota State Fair, 3/4 of the petals painted and cut out for my CSA projects...so tonight I did a real simple paper cut. Tomorrow is Friday!!!!! I can not wait to cat sit this weekend and just chill and read and do some more indepth yellow projects. Peace and Fabulousness

Day 144 : Yellow

Whew! I'm beginning to feel like I'm m running on fumes as I try to finish student critiques and grades, assembling kindergarten color book, pulling and judging student art pieces suitable for entry into the state fair, etc............in addition to the gardens, getting ready for possible out of town family coming to visit, and working on my own 13 art pieces. So today ...a simple papercut pieces glued together in a simple design. Peace and fabulousness.
BTW I found my photo memory card that holds all my blog photos!! : D

Day 143: Yellow

Tuesdays ar my craziest work day, but the kids really cranked up the crazy! Yikes!!! Mega-hyper! But I pushed through as did they. It could partially be due to it being the one year anniversary of the North Minneapolis tornado. Since our school and the vast majority of the students are from the Northside here, it impacted us greatly. One those where were you when moments. Tonight our 8th graders graduate and move onto the world of high schools. Hardest part is the majority of them I will never know what they became or what type of life they created for themselves. So in honor of the Northside tornado and the people that have stayed strong and continue to, I did a paper sculpture of sorts. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 142: Yellow

I think all my plants are now planted. I know I have a couple from my friend Jeff to pick up this week and a few Cannas I might plant, but other than that they are done! I'll take a picture of a few, if I remember to bring my camera home. My smart phone is being stupid :< I took it in and the guy said it was a bad basically. So wondered why was it suggested to me in the first place? I did a paper cut of black shattering to reveal yellow. I like how I'm to the place with yellow where the ideas just pop in naturally
Peace and fabulousness.

Day 141: Yellow

I did a yellow paper sun inspired by Frances Lewis' blog creations. The photo didn't capture the different shades of yellow I used, but they're there. It even has a little solo frair (imagine that). Peace and fabulousness!

Day 140:Yellow

Another hot day in the city. It was nice though that it would alternate between cloudy and sunny so I got a lot of the garden planted, mulched and ready to go. One of the best things that turned out was one of the front gardens, I'd mulched and surrounded it with weathered wood pieces taken from another gardens section. Turned out very nice! One of the highlights of the day was a thank you note in the mail as well as a photo of a special event from my church. I also got to catch up with my favorite neighbors including Lucy the bulldog! I <3 Lucy! She's solid, fun and happiness! The piece I did was a paper square inspired by a painting in a book with my own twist. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 139: Yellow

Marathon type day for a Friday. Made a big dent in catching up in school work, Kitty karnival (a school event), record breaking hot day 92° but luckily it clouded over so I could finish a few things in the gardens. Almost forgot yellow but I did a small acrylic flower painting. Hoping I can catch up this weekend and rekick start my life. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 138: yellow

This is a long week! But my weekend is looking more open. Today I did a pen and ink of some cracks. (I of course forgot it at home so I'll have to post a picture on Monday.) Have 2 cool ideas for yellow just need a bit more time. Peace and fabulousness! (UGH I can't find it!! Will look again tonight! It has gone missing like the memory card from my camery, which contains all the photos from this blog. That's one of the reasons I dislike having to miss a day from my class.) FOUND IT!!!

Dhay 137: yellow

I had the opportunity to chaperone our schools choir picnic today which of a lot of fun and such a beautiful day out. The piece I was going to create today was going to take too much time so I put it off until tomorrow so instead I did a more simple piece out of paper. Between wrapping up the school year, trying to get in the Summer S.L.A.M. mode, getting my gardens in and working on 1o pieces due next month and trying to have a little down time each day is proving to be a bit tricky. I'd love to stay up until the wee hours of the morning working on all of it, but I know my self well enough to know if I don't attempt to get a decent amount of rest (a solid nights sleep is a often a pipe dream for me, but rest is rest), then I am not what I should be with my students. Teaching takes a lot of energy. I had a roommate once who was going to school to teach and would get kind of angry when I'd got to bed at 10, until he started actually teaching. He then said, "I get it, I totally get it."
Peace and fabulousness!

Day 136: Yellow

Feeling like I'm everywhere yet in the moment today. It is Tuesday after all. (My brain just froze up - Where is my Ctrl Alt Delete buttons?) As I seem to be in a bit of a quirky mood this afternoon (who uses quirky to describe a mood?), my art piece is a bit ...let's say odd? off color? Must be my inner 4 year old running the controls. I also was reading some awesome t-shirt design earlier. Oh well. From here my work week steadily rolls down hill, in a good way, until I splash in the pool of awesomeness known as the weekend! Peace and Fabulousness!

Day 135: Yellow

Today I did a simple pen and ink flower. I made it with the intention of adding to it but the day just filled itself up with other things, like weeds in garden. Weeds can have their own beauty however. Peace and fabulousness.

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Day 134: Yellow

Today I did a pen and ink, a simple one to honor my mom. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there and especially to my mum who has taught me so much by example. I love ya MOM!
Peace and fabulousness!

Day 133: Yellow

Today was all about the plants. This morning my annual trip to the Friends School Plant Sale. Then the day shifted to weeding, weeding, weeding. Planted a few things as well. My gardens are Like canvases to me as well.e I'm e
xtending 3 beds this year. Possibly a 4th Almost forgot yellow. So did a pen and ink with a blank ink background Peace and fabulousness!

Day 132: Yellow

Trying to get things done so I can have a semi free weekend (first one in over a month!)even though Sunday Morning is filled up with volunteer stuff at church. So I attempted a pen and ink in yellow. This really tough. It's hard to see the ink as it goes on. It looks like water drying on paper, leaving a yellow trail behind. Going to have to come up with another idea for yellow. Have a great weekend! Peace and fabulousness!

Day 131: Yellow

Got lost in the plans of my flower gardens: the 2 new perinnial beds plus vegetables garden. Was going to do a pen and ink, but the early evening light just didn't work well.
So I did a paper piece of a cocky, spunky peacock. Where'd that idea come from? Who knows.. well some may. Happy weekend! Peace and fabulousness!

Day 130: Yellow

Third project out of 3 is finally finished for work. I made 2 books filled with students artwork, messages, reflections, class picutres... for our principal who has been leading us for 25 years. So yesterday we had a little ceremony to honor her. I think she was pleased. A Simple yellow flower of paper. Peace and fabulousness!

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Day 129 : Yellow

After HOURS of after school work to complete this final major project of three, I'm 98% finished! Whew! So I did paper piece with a bit of twisted sense of humor. I know my mind is shut down for the night, when I did this. It makes me laugh! Peace and fabulousness.

Monday, May 7, 2012

Day 128: Yellow

I got so much done today yet it feels like I have even more left to do. The main bulk needs to be done in 36 hours. Parents honored us with so much great food. What an awesome gesture. Still full. Starting to go to 1 main meal a day ...that needs to change among a lot of other things! Need sleep tonight so I get it all done tomorrow! Don't want to do middle of the night pushups. I think can I think can. Just tired physically and mentally. Tonight I did a paper flower water lily like piece. I really like it! Peace and fabulousness!

Day 127: Yellow

Kenneth Provine was the inspiration for my project and the other 365-ers. (I bought a new style of exacto knife today that is suppose to help with making even more precise cuts... not so much. ) So I created a little yellow chick. It may be the sad frog of yellow. I'm halfway done with my last major school project due Wednesday. Most of it will have to be completed Tuesday. May be a late nighter Tuesday. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 126: Orange flashback

Today even though it's now time to be doing yellow I did a piece in orange. Last Sunday the 365-ers did pieces inspired by Yvonne Kettner's zentangles. I was so excited to try one but was so stressed I put it off until I had the time to enjoy it. So today with it raining and thundering, and having got a major chunk of next Wednesday's project done, I did the zentangle. I did it in the color orange since that's the color I was on last week and I thought it would show up better. So fun! I will have to do more of these in the future and introduce it to my students. Peace and fabulousness.

Day 124: Yellow

Just realized yesterday was 1/3 of the way through the year! Crazy! Today in the midst of cleaning up from the past 2 school events and working on the third school project, I did a pen and ink. I simple piece, almost a peaceful space in the midst of the inner meanings. It will be interesting tomorrow to see how well it photographs. Yellow is certainly going to be a true challenge.Along with many areas of my life I am two people in one. for example the artistic side, loves to spread out project and have many things going at one time. The other side dislikes mess and wants everything orderely. Tomorrow's challenge is to create THE to-do list. As I play catch up and try to finish this school project by Wednesday, all I can see sometimes is the other things I need to and want to get done (like returning 540 art project back to their student owners). So I need to bring some balance back to the two side. Peace and fabulousness.

Day 123: Yellow

Day 123, easy as ABC, 123 come and play with me.... I"M SOOOOOOooo tired today! I hated yesterday's piece so bad. It was nasty ugly, in fact my friend Stephanie is laughing at it as we speak! It deserves a laugh. I feel much better about today's piece. Yellow is going to be a challenge, more than I realized. Peace and fabulousness!

Day 122: Yellowish

What a great, stressful, busy day!!!! Had an idea for today's project, but my brain is running on caffeine / endorphine remnants just didn't get it done. So this paper piece done in orange with emerging yellow is what it is. Kind of embarrased by it. Here's to a refreshed tomorrow of creativity. Peace and fabulousness. It also got a little smushed on the way to school. :
