What a day!
Woke up and there was no snow instead of the 6-9 inches they said was coming!!! : )
The second graders were mello and we jammed out to Elvis (the one song of his I like) as they cleaned up.
My 3rd graders were on task.
My first set of kindergarteners discussed boobs.
The 1st graders were being....what? Boobs? yes boobs. It's such a funny sounding word and to hear little kids saying it so casually was hilarious!!
We were working on drawing realistic looking Mona Lisa's and then they added their own twist, like her holding a puppy or a unique back ground. One boy (not trying to be funny) gave her breasts. He then said out loud " oh, I need to color her boobs". From there the conversation went on.... It was so funny because they were discussion them like they might discuss cookies or a TV show.
The 1st graders were so on task and creative today. They were making baby birds for a picture we were doing. They were adding 3D beaks, cool eyes, clothes, etc....
Days like this is why I love doing art with kids.
Peace and fabulousness
I took on the challenge of being creative at least once a day for the year 2012 using color. Looking back at all the pieces from 2012, I realized the ones that stood out and gave me the most joy, were the creatures (sad frog, the monsters,...) 2013 was the year of creatures. This year (2014) I'm continuing with the creatures but making them around the theme of children's stories/nursery rhymes. When all the characters are finished, I'll assemble them into a story picture.
